The Rev. Calvin Brown has recently been appointed Director designate of the Renewal Fellowship. He has served the Church for many years as Clerk of the Presbytery of Kootenay as well as Moderator of the Synod of B.C. and on Presbytery, Synod and National Committees. For over 20 years he has served as pastor of First Church, Nelson which he led from an aid-receiving two-point charge to a dynamic self-supporting congregation. He was also instrumental in church planting and in promoting lay education throughout the Synod.
In Nelson he has expressed the compassion of Christ not only through ministries of the Church that reached out to embrace the needy and marginalized but by seeking justice through establishing the Family Court/Youth Justice Committee. He has also served on the Hospice Committee and chaired the Ministerial Association, Chaplaincy Committee and Bible Society.
Calvin comes to the Fellowship with a gift of vision, a deep love of the Church and a singular devotion to its only King and head, Jesus Christ.
A Channels article by the former Clerk of the Synod of B.C. described him as “a delightful, evangelical and episcopal mix of a man who led in the development of a vital, communal congregational life.” Calvin, his wife Phyllis, and children (Benjamin, Matthew and Timothy) will be moving to Southern Ontario in 1995. Please pray for them in this upcoming time of transition. And thank you for your gifts and pledges making this appointment possible. Please continue to keep the Fellowship in your prayers.
