Evangelism: A Way of Life. Rebecca Pippert and Ruth Siemens. Downers Grove, Illinois: InterVarsity Press, 1985.

Rebecca Pippert is an evangelism specialist with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship and author of Out of the Saltshaker (IVP). Ruth Siemens is the director of Global Opportunities for InterVarsity. Together they have compiled this series of twelve inductive Bible studies on the topic of evangelism for both individual and group study.

Study material consists of selected passages from the gospels and the book of Acts dealing with a variety of topics which include cross-cultural evangelism and facing opposition to the gospel. Each study consists of a series of thought-provoking questions which not only help with discovering and understanding a biblical perspective of evangelism but which also encourage the integration of knowledge with lifestyle. The booklet also contains a section of leader’s notes for those using the material in a small group.

Evangelism: A Way of Life is both instructional and motivational. The study material encourages a well-balanced approach to personal evangelism. Study topics have been thoughtfully chosen and arranged. These studies should not only provide basic, foundational information on the topic of evangelism but they should also give people the freedom to delve into the material at whatever depth they wish to. The emphasis on personal application can’t help but mobilize people to share their faith.
