Gunar Kravalis, Reflections on Living Faith, GN Kravalis Arts: 68 Main Street, Milverton, ON NOK IMO, 1995, 247 pp.
In view of the fact that Living Faith has been widely accepted and may soon become a subordinate standard in the Presbyterian Church in Canada – depending upon what happens with the presbyteries as recent Assembly legislation in that direction passes to them for their approval or disapproval under the “Barrier Act” – it may behoove some people to consider Gunar Kravalis’ careful theological reflections. His objectives are two-fold: “1) to demonstrate that Living Faith is an acceptable statement of contemporary Christian belief, and, 2) to provide reflections which will be useful in the faith and life of all Christians” (Introduction).
Profession of faith classes and small groups which are prepared to chew on a bit of theological meat will find this a helpful accompaniment to their deliberations. Kravalis’ thoughts are arranged chapter by chapter, section by section. The actual text of Living Faith is also included. The treatment is from an orthodox, classical Christian point of view.
