This issue of Channels reminds us of how God’s love is with his people in every time and age and how that witness of his faithfulness blends one time with another. The photo essay on Blood Red connects us to the strong witness of our Covenanting forebears as well as to Presbyterians in every part of the country who saw the production at the General Assembly event or as the Ontario drama Troupe (ADMIT ONE) toured in the spring or as the Western troupe tours this fall. Ian Rennie’s travelogue of the Atlantic Provinces ties the ongoing witness of God’s people to the ongoing renewal of his church; Wayne Dawes’s article reminds us not only of the prayer and promises of God’s essential for revivals but, that Presbyterians are still gathering for days of prayer; Judy McCallum’s article tells us of the witness of God’s people in Africa and reminds us that the compassion of Christ knows no geographic bounds.
It truly is an exciting time to be a Christian and a wonderful time to feel the connection with that great cloud of witness which surrounds us on every side.
Do you see what this means — all these pioneers who blazed the way, all these cheering us on? It means we better get on with it. Strip down, start running — and never quit! No extra spiritual fat, no parasitic sins. Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race were in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed — that exhilarating finish in and with God… Hebrews 12:1-2 (The Message).
