ATLANTIC RENEWAL TASK FORCE

We are thankful to the Lord for the strong encouragement that he has given many who have attended the conferences in the Maritimes over the years. Each year there have been good numbers at the Men’s and Women’s conferences in May and the Adult Conference in the Fall. It was wonderful to see about 170 women experience renewing fellowship and teaching this last Spring in Moncton – praise God! The next Women’s Conference is in Saint John, NB in late April, 1997 and the Men’s following it. The conferences have not traditionally been directly linked to the Renewal Fellowship as such, but obviously have been a major part of what God is doing in renewing his people.

EASTERN ONTARIO & WESTERN QUEBEC RENEWAL TASK FORCE

The Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec Task Force of the Renewal Fellowship is sponsoring a Music Buffet and Festival of Praise on November 9, 1996. The churches of the four Presbyteries have been invited to send a musical group from their church, i.e., choir, solo, duets, or worship team to take part in the afternoon session of singing and sharing pieces of music they use in their worship services with an emphasis upon contemporary Christian music. This will be held at Grace Presbyterian church, in Orleans. (See ad page 11.)

In the evening the congregations are invited to attend and join the Festival of Praise at which music from the afternoon will be presented.

Our task force is also considering hosting a prayer vigil immediately prior to the opening of General Assembly which will be held in Ottawa in June 1997.

Rev. John Fair, Chairperson, Renewal Task Force Coordinating Group.

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR ATTENDS DUNAMIS AT LAKE GEORGE, NEW YORK.

Nestled in the beautiful Allegheny Mountains of New York State is the YMCA Retreat Centre on Lake George. Calvin Brown, the Executive Director of the Renewal Fellowship within the PCC, along with over 100 others met between October 2-6 to learn about “Equipping for Spiritual Warfare.” The Dunamis Project is a program of the Presbyterian and Reformed Renewal Ministries International (PRRMI) whose purpose is to equip an extended fellowship of Christians, both clergy and lay to share in the ministry of the Holy Spirit to the glory of God. The project is directed by the Rev. Dr. Brad Long, Executive Director of PRRMI. Some Canadian Presbyterian and Reformed congregations have already been involved in the Dunamis project or other programs of PRRMI like the Prayer Mountain or Spirit Alive Conferences. It was felt by the Board of the Renewal Fellowship that rather than recreating similar programs we should investigate adapting some of the PRRMI programs which are suitable to our renewal needs in Canada and so our executive director was sent to gain first-hand experience. It is hoped that in the future closer co-operation will enable our groups to encourage one another in effective ministry.
